Wild garlic
Life cycle: perennial from bulbs
Growth habit: grass-like hollow leaves, round in cross-section; foliage and bulb smell like onion or garlic; may produce aerial bulblets
Reproduction: produces clusters of many underground bulbs when mowed; wild onion similar, but leaves are flat in cross-section
Conditions that favor growth: mowing the lawn too short, inadequate fertilization of lawn
Cultural control: proper mowing height (3-4 inches), proper fertilization practices; dig up clumps including small, white bulbs

 Wild Garlic and Dandelions grow in the lawn pictured below. The brown (dead) grass was crabgrass that is dead but there are thousands of crabgrass weeds seeds waiting to germinate!
