One of the first steps in trying to get grass established under a maple tree is to limb up the maple tree and thin and trim the maple tree to see if adequate sunlight can reach the soil.

Also with fall seeding leaf drop from the maple tree, the leaves will have to be removed each day or every other day at the least if you move forward with lawn seeding here in the next few weeks.

It is also very difficult to keep grass alive and the area(s) will have to be seeded each year to keep grass growing and build up on existing grass that is growing.

The maple tree blocks all or most of the sunlight from reaching the grass and the grass does not receive the proper amount sunlight to live and thrive.

The maple tree also will take the majority if not all the moisture from the soil and the grass will die off from lack of proper moisture if not watered during dry spells or drought.

The seeding becomes a pitfall after a year or two and most clients (90 %) give up and waste the investment in the repaired lawn under the maple tree.
