Our Landscape Design called for the tree to work (be planted) off the corner of the house. When digging the hole for the tree planting in Hagerstown MD we hit this large rock. Instead of just planting the tree on top of the rock we removed the rock so the tree would be able to establish a great root system and also so the tree would not struggle being planted directly overtop of the rock with very little soil here in Washington County MD. The rock would not hold any moisture like the soil will during times of drought or dry weather so the tree would struggle for moisture with the rock being directly underneath the tree.
