There will be areas in the lawn where we killed the weeds that will be bare soil where crabgrass will now germinate in Washington County MD.

Crabgrass seed can be spread to those areas by the wind, birds, string trimmers, our work shoes and our mowers in Hagerstown MD! Yes I was honest about our mowers and work shoes carrying the crabgrass seed.

The bare areas will need to be seeded with good grass seed to help stop the crabgrass from taking over your lawn in Williamsport MD.

Crabgrass loves the bare soil as it has no competition for growth on homeowners properties and commercial properties here in Washington County MD.

With a thin lawn the crabgrass will always be an issue until there is grass planted and allowed to  thicken up in Clear Spring MD.

The front lawn has many varieties of grass and as well as Quackgrass which is considered an invasive plant and the only way to kill quackgrass is with Round-Up.

Aeration will help relieve the compacted soil and allow for better water penetration and if we over seed after aeration and the right amount of rain fall or watering the lawn will slowly move towards a better lawn. We stand a good chance of spreading the Quackgrass with aeration if it is not killed.

Aeration and overseeding is a long term project as this will take years.

A lawn renovation is a one-time project where the entire lawn will be killed, tilled and hydro seeded.

If lawn renovation is considered then all the tree stumps should be removed as well from your lawn before completing a lawn renovation in Williamsport MD .

A note of caution is that there is always a potential for the Quackgrass to return and that small area will have to be killed to keep it from spreading. We must be proactive with Quackgrass.

There are also 10,000 weeds seeds per square foot that could germinate if the bare soil is exposed or the soil is tilled allowing the weed seeds to move to the top and receive moisture and sunlight.

We will be taking a soil test this winter to see where the soil stands and what adjustments will be needed for the best growing conditions for the grass here in Hagerstown MD.

Take my word we are not happy with any crabgrass as this slows down the mowing and trimming as crabgrass will not cut clean.
