BE ON THE LOOKOUT

You will want to watch out for yellow jackets and hornets this time of year as the colonies are growing larger by the day. We find yellow jackets’ nests throughout yards and we usually find them the hard way... yes, by getting stung!

Remember to look up for the bald-faced hornet as they generally build papery nests, sometimes extremely large papery nests, in trees and shrubs. We found one nest last season after leaves had fallen. We mowed and string trimmed under the tree all season and never knew the hornets’ nest was there because of the leafy canopy on the tree. Please be aware that bald-faced hornets can and will sting multiple times.

Here is one you want to watch out for, the Hornets' Nest, Oh My!
