Landscape Bed Maintenance in Hagerstown, MD

Image
Proper care should be give to your landscape beds to help keep the shrubs and flowers healthy from weed & wild tree competition in Williamsport, MD A wild tree growing in this landscape bed left  to grow. The tree will only get bigger and harder to remove and cost more money in the long run to remove with a large stump. Do you notice the wild tree growing in the Red Twig Dogwood ? If the landscape beds are not maintained the weeds will take over and when the weeds are left to go to seed there will be over 10,000 weed seed per sq. ft. Yes 10,000 weed seeds! The children's play area was left go and not weeded and has turned in to a jungle (not the good kind). This is what your child would see and have to go through when they went to play on the swing set. Here we found the down spout tore away from the house letting water puddle against the house because the soil has been splashed away from the water coming down from on high above

Grosh's Lawn Service Tip of the Week! Watering in Hagerstown, MD

Image
Grosh’s Lawn Service Tip of the Week! Watering is a delicate balance. Too much water means the plants can’t breathe and too little water and the plants will wilt & die. Plants cannot thrive and survive if they are stressed for water. There will be times that all plants will require watering during times of dry spells or droughts. If plants are left to die they the value that they added to the property are lost and then your will have the added cost of replacement. It is far more cost effective to water then it is to remove and replant plants that were not watered. Notice tree in the picture has a watering bag so the proper amount of water is given to the tree allowing the tree to thrive & survive! Lawns require 1” of water a week and plants require 1" a week applied slowly so there is not a lot of runoff. Proper watering allows   "Your investment to GROW"

Recycle your Tree in Hagerstown, MD and Williamsport, MD

Image
Recycle YOUR Christmas Tree! Before sending your live-cut Christmas Tree to the trash, remember that it can find new life after the holidays are over.  The trees can be recycled into a variety of uses, including mulch, compost and wildlife habitat. Think of the wonderful roosting spot that the tree will provide for the wild birds close to your bird feeder this winter. Mulching, chipping or composting Christmas trees after the holidays is a wise alternative to just throwing them in landfills and uses up no space at the landfill.  Everyone who uses a live-cut Christmas tree should really consider chipping, composting or wildlife use for their Christmas trees. By adding your chipped up tree to your home gardens you can improve soil quality, helps stores moisture in the soil and reduces bare soil for weeds to germinate. Consider using Christmas trees to create outdoor brush piles that will make a wonderful home for wildlife. Trees can also be weighted down and sunk in fa
