When these trees were planted over a 100 years ago, no thought was given to how big the tree would get (the mature size of the tree).

Back in the day the tree were used to help keep the house cool from the long hot summer days when there was no air condition.

The trees provided shade to the house and kept the brick cooler and kept the brick from retaining all the summer sun.



During a high wind storm the tree has been uprooted!


The cottomwood tree struck the garage but did not destroy the garage.


If the cottomwood tree would have fallen to the left or right by only 2' the tree would have destroyed the garage from the large limbs.





It was truly amazing that the cottonwood tree fell where it did causing only miner damage to the garage.


The sheer size of the tree could have destroyed the entire garage!
