Autumn is a wonderful time for planting spring blooming bulbs, hard pruning shrubs for better spring growth, and cleaning up fallen leaves. We can also cut back perennials and do general bed clean up. All debris will be removed and hauled away.
Fall is also a good time to plant trees & shrubs, due to Washington County having lower temperatures & above average moisture during this time of year. This allows mother nature to water your new trees and shrubs, so you won’t have to.

Leaf cleanup should be done weekly to allow the grass and the shrubs in your landscape beds to receive the proper amount of sunlight and oxygen to live and survive here in the Hagerstown, Maryland area.
Remember, it also takes longer to cleanup two weeks worth of leaves! That also means you a raking a greater volume of leaves from the lawns and then making more trips to the landfill.
The leaves on the lawn will have to go before the rain (and eventually snow) falls. If rain covers leaves, then, as you can imagine, the leaf removal and cleanup will take more time. With the days getting shorter you want to make the most of the daylight hours.
